There is nothing magical about the 95 TT engine-wise that can not be accomplished with a 90-94. The biggest "non- changeable" difference IMO is the hydraulic HICAS vs electric. If you are not determined to keep the HICAS intact, then the different HICAS systems should not be a deciding factor and all of the 90-95 Zs could be more fairly compared. The earlier years had better quality carpeting and sound deadening. My first Z was a 90 TT~ I recently sold my 96. They felt like two different cars IMO. I thought that I was remembering the 90 being better than it was, until I discussed some of the differences with another member here on TTnet. The 92 I just purchased has the same solid feel as my first. I think the benefits of getting a 95 TT are largely negated if it needs work...injectors, turbos, or engine work. When replacing parts it is often more cost effective to go non- OEM. If you are looking for a completely stock TT and wish to keep it stock, then this does not apply. If you aren't going to track the car or HEAVILY modify it then a 96 is also an option. ECU tunes are available, and the extra costs on mine amounted to 2 more O2 sensors. A 95 with ~60k miles, 120k service done and good turbos is a STEAL @ 8k, and a great deal @ ~10k. But this car will cost more than that...It's your call! Good luck!
